Body modification is a misunderstood term. Indeed it encompasses the entire range of image alterations, from simple cosmetics to plastic surgery. We strive to make ourselves presentable, unique, attractive ... How we do so is a very personal choice. Some choose a wardrobe, others will decorate with jewelry. Some choose to drape, others choose a more permanent presentation like piercing or tattooing. Hairstyles, fashion choices, exercise regimens and surgery all are used to alter our appearance, and to make us feel better about ourselves.
